When Bill declared that he was in love with the psychopathic killer Sheila, everyone close to him was horrified. Liam and Wyatt, Brooke and a teary-eyed Katie took turns trying to talk sense into him, but all to no avail. Bill roared that Sheila is the woman of his life, the only one who has ever truly understood him.
But still, fans of the series feverishly tried to find a reason for Bill's behavior. Something other than the fact that he's lost his mind. One popular speculation was that Bill's sword necklace poisoned him.
Eventually the truth was revealed. Bill and Ridge were involved in an FBI plot to put Sheila behind bars for life. The purpose was that Sheila would fall in love with Bill and start confessing to him the crimes she had committed.
Bill was already getting desperate, he wouldn't last long pretending to be in love with a murderer. Bill decided to propose to Sheila to get her to open up about her murderous history.
At first, Sheila was suspicious of what was behind the proposal, but then she agreed. And with Bill still curious, Sheila finally admitted that she killed bee-allergic Lance Day with bees.
Ridge, the FBI and Bill were excited that Sheila was now caught. But Sheila heard Bill on the phone and the full extent of Bill's deception dawned on her. Bill and Sheila's argument turned physical, and ended with Sheila falling over the balcony railing.
