For Eric, the patriarch of the Forrester family, designing clothes has always been his whole life. But recently drawing has been difficult for him due to shaky hands, which he has kept as a secret.
Ridge has tried hard to get Eric to give up his job already, but Eric disagrees. He wants to create one last clothing collection. Eric and Ridge's argument progressed to the point where they decided to compete against each other with their clothing collections.
Eric secretly asked RJ to help him draw the collection. Their cooperation went well.
Eric's health situation worsened and he already started coughing up blood. At first, he didn't even tell Donna about this new symptom, but she soon found out. The doctor visited Eric many times, suspecting cerebrovascular accident and TIA attacks.
And when Eric's diagnosis was finally told to the characters, it wasn't immediately revealed to the viewers. It was told that it is a terminal illness and that Eric has six months left to live. The doctor advised Eric not to take part in the fashion show as it might kill Eric. But Eric refused to give up his last collection at any price.
Although Eric wanted to keep his illness a secret, the news started to spread. First it was revealed to an eavesdropping Katie. Then Eric himself told RJ, who in turn told Brooke.
The competition fashion show was held in the presence of prestigious guests (Lauren Fenmore and Esther Valentine of The Young and the Restless), and both sides were eagerly waiting to hear who won.
Ridge found out from Carter that he won, but his joy was short-lived when he was told about his father's terminal illness.
So when Eric asked who the winner is, Ridge lied that Eric won the competition. And that made Eric very happy.
